BOND Goes Virtual

Everyone knows how difficult 2020 has been. From locusts, to fires in Australia, and COVID, this year has been pretty bad, to say the least. All of it except my decision to join BOND.

My time in BOND began like most, struggling to place the 50 new names with the right faces at our welcome party, but soon enough I had long, rambling conversations with everyone (much like this sentence), sometimes touching on business, but far more often learning and debating why milk is so important or which BOND color is best (it’s Prasad Purple) and discovered there were endless things to talk about with each member.

Fast forward through hours of slide making, BONDings, and "working" together, and my team, ignoring all of Allison's warnings that there was this "disease" that was "really bad news," was preparing for our midpoint presentation. Lo and behold, she was right; this "disease" shut the world down, and, I thought, BOND along with it. Nope. Not 10 minutes after Michigan issued a statement on the pandemic, our President, Varun, countered with a 15 page one of his own. BOND was going virtual. And kudos to us, because it went amazingly.

Rachel and Evan (my Project Managers) supplemented their leadership with a revival of Club Penguin; Geet (my Development Leader) switched to Zoom presentations and Skribbl.io games; BONDings got replaced with online Poker games, where I got to turn the tables on Geet and teach him how to play. From Zoom birthday parties to heated debates on Taylor Swift's new album, online BOND didn't miss a beat. Which brings us to the upcoming year. With all the chaos in the world, U.S., and Michigan, I am so happy to have an endless network of friends I can randomly text at 2AM to talk about career opportunities or places to eat and can’t wait to see what new plan BOND has in store.
